About us
BEREN is not a brand that was created in a meeting room.
It was born from a family story.
In the family from which the founders of BEREN come, there was a man — a teacher — who owned a yellow briefcase.
He carried it every day. It held everything he needed: for work, for life, for people.
Today, he is no longer here.
But his briefcase is.
What makes this story extraordinary is that the briefcase was not even made of leather — it was made of faux leather.
The man lived a long and happy life. He is gone, yet the briefcase remains.
Years later, that same briefcase was carried by his grandson — a man who held a leading position in a major French company.
People around him could not understand why someone of his level would carry a worn yellow briefcase that was not even leather.
But when they learned its story, everything changed.
The briefcase was no longer just an object — it became a symbol of memory, continuity, and respect for one’s roots.
Today, that grandson carries a new yellow briefcase — made by his own family, this time from real leather.
And the original yellow briefcase is carefully preserved as a memory of a father and a grandfather.
From this story, BEREN was born.
The name BEREN comes from a historical figure belonging to the lineage of the man who owned the yellow briefcase.
From that same lineage come the founders of the brand today — his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
BEREN was founded in 2026 in Brooklyn, New York.
At the beginning, like many, we did not know everything. We used leather that seemed good.
With time, we learned that true objects begin only with true materials.
Today, every BEREN piece is made exclusively from world-class leathers:
- Horween.
- Buttero.
- Sedgwick English Bridle.
- Alran.
We use only trusted threads — Ritza Tiger Thread and twisted waxed cord.
Only high-quality hardware.
And only handcraft — from the first cut to the final stitch.
Every BEREN piece is made by hand.
- No assembly lines.
- No shortcuts.
-
No compromises.
Our purpose is simple and demanding:
- to create objects that can be passed from generation to generation.
- like that first briefcase.
- not even leather — yet still alive.
We believe that the leather, threads, and hardware we use today will allow our pieces to live long lives — and to bring joy to those who choose them.
BEREN leather does not simply age.
It ages beautifully.
Over time it becomes deeper, softer, more noble — like fine wine.
We offer a lifetime warranty on leather and stitching.
Because we stand behind what we make.
We are only at the beginning of our journey.
But we already know what matters most:
We will never sacrifice quality for profit.
We will never trade time for shortcuts.
We will never forget where we come from.
Despite all technological progress,
the saddle stitch — created at the dawn of craftsmanship — is still used today,
because nothing stronger has ever been invented.
The road is mastered by the one who walks it.
We have begun.
